PROTECTING YOUR HOME DURING WILD FIRES WITH GLEN GILLMAN

Join Glen Gillman, Wildfire Mitigation Officer for the Travis County Fire Marshal's Office to learn more about the latest research into how wildfires spread into communities and the
steps residents can take to prevent wildland urban interface disasters.

Glen Gillman has worked as a wildland firefighter for over 25 years with different federal, state, and local governments, primarily in prescribed fire management. He has worked in the Austin area since 2006 and recently became the Wildfire Mitigation Officer for the Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office. In his new position, he continues to promote the use of prescribed fire to advance land management objectives and also works to mitigate the impacts of wildfires to communities. Glen will be discussing research into how homes ignite during wildfires and the simple steps residents can take to protect their homes and families from wildfire.
